Not to long ago two cul de' sac neighbors were discussing the difficulties in creating actions out of all of the natural living thoughts that were shared. They wanted to document the trials and errors of their experiments in raising chickens, vermicomposting, gardening and beyond in order to share with their children the process. These two wanted to be a part of an open forum where no question was a dumb question... everyone is most certainly on their own path after all. And last but not least they wanted to be able to talk about the not-so-green choices that they made without guilt, in hopes that someone out there would have reasonable alternatives... or not.
We wanted a conversation that wasn't already set in it's ways.
It has become very clear that many people are making changes in their lives, big or small, to reduce their impact on the earth and the environment as a whole. This can be as big as homesteading and as little as buying organic milk. In doing so questions are raised with each action: if we believe enough to make one choice, how to I responsibly stop there? But where does the limit lie for each individual? What are you NOT willing to give up? How do you feel about that? Among these there are limitless ideas, products, theories and causes out there to explore and we certainly cannot do it all ourselves. Here, in this blog, we call upon all those struggling to incorporate natural living into the culture and society we live in today, to add to this conversation; ask questions, join the challenge, be a part of the experiment.
Becoming closer with the natural state of things happens for many people for different reasons. Across the political board people are choosing heirloom seeds or are vermicomposting. This blog is many things but it most certainly will not be politically based. This is not to say that different points won't come up that are controversial for liberals, or conservatives or any other group for that matter. This is stated simply to clarify that we do not endorse nor are swayed by parties in general. This will surely be discussed in future posts.
In an effort to prevent "green-washing" or the assumption that our choices are due to the chic-ness of the "green" movement we will do our best to refrain from using this type of term unless no other seems suitable or we are talking about the movement itself.
Join us as we ask questions, give hypothesis, test theories and report back to the world on our findings.
A hot-cup-of-fair-trade-coffee-with-coffee-mate-creamer cheers to you all!
